Coding with Claude Opus

Claude Opus is a huge step up from ChatGPT, which I was using before. It's faster, it's better at coding and it just lets me get lots more done. I'm just one the Pro plan which costs $20/£15. I've now cancelled ChatGPT.

I went to an EdinburghJS meetup this week which was based around re-building personal websites with AI. I didn't get my site fully revamped, that will take a bit more thought, but I did make some changes to my navbar.

Now it shows all my social media icons and not just the defaults that come with Ghost. Incredibly, it found my social media accounts and got the URLs correct. So I didn't need to visit LinkedIn, find my profile URL and add that link - it just did it all for me! It's kinda scary but kinda awesome as well. I'd already shared my personal website address so I guess it found my social media accounts from that context.

Adding social media icons with Claude

I'm also working on a few other things in Claude like re-designing my High Signal newsletter page so it has a testimonial below the email sign-up form. True, I could do this manually, but AI is so much quicker and I don't have to fumble around with CSS to make sure it's mobile-responsive.

I've also got some other free tools, fun games and other things planned that I can now make easily with Claude. If you've been sceptical about AI, sign up for Claude and see what you can do! It's come a long way.

Also, this is in the wider context of people like the founder of Node saying manual coding is over. I think that we still need developers to check things and to understand what's happening with the code but AI, especially Claude, is like having super powers.
