I'm giving an SEO talk at Skyscanner

I'm excited to be giving a talk on how to get backlinks at the SEO Gathering meetup organised by Skyscanner. It's going to be at their office in Glasgow on the 12th of November.

Backlinks are crucial for SEO as they help determine how well your website shows up in Google (and LLMs). If you have two websites with equally good content, the one with the better backlink profile will usually perform best in searches.

So I'll be diving into some of my favourite ways to get backlinks, ranging from the very easy to the quite hard. If you're based in or near Glasgow, I encourage you to come along to my talk! Here are the meetup details:

I haven't spoken in public for a while but I always find these opportunities really good for getting out of my comfort zone. Also, by making a presentation about backlinks, it will test what I know. The Feynman technique says you only know something if you can teach it to someone else.

It will also be a chance for me to brush up on my presentation skills. I've done public speaking before at parkrun but in my usual working life, I don't have much call for it. I am used to doing lots of sales calls though so I'm comfortable with presenting information and being put on the spot.

Also, it will be a nice opprtunity to plug my SEO services 😀
